Russo-USA TODAY SportsEd Oliver has been the favorite prospect mocked to the Atlanta Falcons in nearly every mock draft since the offseason. The Houston defensive tackle is both fast and physical, but we did not know how fast. He waited until his pro day to run the 40 and now we have an answer: he can haul ass. That’s blazing speed for a 280+ pound player. For reference, that number would make Oliver third fastest of all defensive lineman, behind only Rashan Gary and John Cominsky. It helps show that Oliver is every bit of athletic as expected. He overcame size concerns by measuring in at 6-foot-2 and 287-pounds at the combine, and weighed six pounds lighter at his pro day. Oliver has good size and simply stunning physical traits. He was third in DL bench press, third in DL vertical, and second in DL broad jump. He additionally produced in college despite being played out of position. It is clear he has all the physical tools to be a top defensive tackle in the NFL.Update: more numbers are coming in for Oliver and they are absolutely bonkers. For reference, this time at the combine would tie him with defensive backs, wide receivers, and running backs. It easily bests every other defensive lineman except for Nick Bosa. Absurd numbers for a 281-pound tackle. Washington rookie QB Dwayne Haskins says that he doesn’t want to get hit by Khalil Mack. Smart call, rook."
